Guest Post: Gerry Woodhouse, CHH Tapestry Study Group

Tapestry weavers will be demonstrating tapestry weaving at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston beginning Thursday, March 12 through Thursday March 19, from 1 to 4 pm. Our looms will be the first thing you see when you enter the MFAH in the N. Foyer of the Law Building. This is a Spring Break event for the local school children and anyone else who would like to attend. It is in conjunction with the Spectacular Rubens show of tapestries and the hand painted cartoons created by Flemish artist Peter Paul Rubens. Volunteer demonstrators will be able to see several actual tapestries that Rubens designed.

Visitors will see our members working on contemporary tapestries.

If you’d like to volunteer to help, contact Blaine Davis at .

We particularly need someone with some knowledge about tapestry weaving on Saturday the 14th – since Gerry and Blaine will be teaching at the Round Robin.

We will have the high back loom there that anyone can weave on – and there will be other looms that can be used to explain tapestry weaving. You can also bring a loom of your own to demonstrate on.
