Double occupancy rooms with meals cost $221.00 per person. Single occupancy rooms with meals cost $348.00. The fee for a two-day class is an additional $150.00. Please send a deposit of $100.00, along with your room preference and your first and second class selections, to Deborah at the address listed below. Deposits will need to be received by November 30, 2015. We welcome participants who do not yet belong to CHT, but they will need to join prior to registering for Art Camp.

Choose from five great two-day classes:

Connie Childs Elliott: Indigo Dyeing

Participants will explore the use of indigo dye with shibori techniques and some of Michel Garcia’s interesting methods of stamping with mordants as well as dyes.
Level: No dyeing experience required.

Deborah Harrison: Variety in Rag Rug Weaving

This is a round robin on-loom workshop. Each loom will be threaded for a different rag rug structure or technique. You will receive warping instructions and a supply list several weeks prior to camp. Deborah will supply all of the weft materials, and if a particular warp requires expensive yarn, she will supply it. Students will use a variety of tools that will be available in class.
Level: Must be able to warp a loom. All drafts are for four-shaft looms. Table looms are fine. $25.00 supply fee.

Ply Split BraidingEileen Thompson: Make a Ply-Split Necklace in Single-Course Oblique Twining

Participants will make a ply-split necklace in colors of their choice. There should also be time available to make some cords and try other ply-splitting structures.
Level: No previous ply-split braiding experience needed. A $15.00 supply fee covers cords, a magnetic clasp, and instructions for one necklace. Gripfids may be borrowed for the class and purchased for future use for an additional $12.00.

Laura Viada: Beaded Fringes and Edges

Laura's BeadingA lovely beaded fringe or edge can turn an ordinary scarf, shawl or garment into a dramatic, unique piece and can turn an already wonderful piece into a real showstopper. Beaded fringes and edges can also be used very effectively to embellish home décor and accessories. In this workshop, students will learn various techniques for making beaded fringes and edges and will make a sample of each technique for future reference. Information on bead selection and color choice will also be provided.
Level: No beading experience required. A $25.00 supply fee includes everything except scissors and a task light, which is optional but suggested.

Rasa Silenas: Lithuanian Band Weaving

Does that sound like a Vaudeville act? Quit giggling! Intricately warp-patterned bands have a long tradition in Northern European cultures as sashes, tie straps, and all kinds of ornamental and practical uses. Children learn to weave them on a backstrap or frame loom to keep their fingers busy while they tend goats or geese at pasture. Larger, more elaborate patterns are worthy of the skills of advanced weavers. The basic technique is simple and very low tech (My first loom was a National Geographic!) and the warping sets up a flow that makes the pickup easy. In this class, you will learn how to warp a frame or inkle loom for band weaving, tie a string heddle, and weave a sampler. There will be plenty of time to produce a bookmark or two. And then you can giggle all you want.
Level: No pick-up experience required, but you will need to come with a prepared loom. Rasa will contact each participant with loom specifications and instructions.

Saturday night, we will have a special program from Tracy Kaestner, Deedee Woodbury, Connie Elliott, Laura Viada, and Shannon Hardy. They will present highlights from their fantastic trip to Sweden.
