Interfaith Ministries Tapestry Gala

In keeping with the Tapestry theme of The Interfaiith Ministries Gala, weavers Gerry Woodhouse and Blaine Davis demonstrated weaving.

Interfaith Ministries of Greater Houston’s 2008 Tapestry Gala: Weaving a Tapestry of Hope for Houston took place Thursday, June 5, at Hilton American Grand Ballroom, 1600 Lamar St. (by George R. Brown Convention Center), 5:30 pm. Gerry Woodhouse, Tracy Kaestner and Blaine Davis demonstrated weaving in the anteroom from 5:30 till 6:30 pm. Gala banquet began at 6:30, and Jeffrey Osborne (Rhythm & Blues musician) entertained a crowd of approximately 600 patrons.

Tapestries by Blaine and Gerry, necklaces by Barbara Hibbard and a boundweave by Kate Weinheimer were on display in the demonstration area, as well as woven vestments and other textiles which represent various faiths.

This was a fundraising gala. Interfaith Ministries provides 832,000 meals on wheels to enhance the dignity of seniors, as well as providing assistance to refugees and disaster recovery to communities in need. They bring together people of diverse faiths for dialogue, collaboration and service.
