Adobe has issued some information about a vulnerability in the Adobe Reader. This is the software most of us use to read the popular PDf file format. Here’s Adobe’s latest recommendation:

To mitigate the issue disable JavaScript in Adobe Reader and Acrobat using the following instructions below:

  1. Launch Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
  2. Select Edit>Preferences
  3. Select the JavaScript Category
  4. Uncheck the ‘Enable Acrobat JavaScript’ option
  5. Click OK

Alternately, you can download a PDF reader from another company. Some folks in internet land (like CNET) recommend the Foxit Reader.
