The Guild Has a Home

by | Oct 10, 2012

From Tracy,

Our dreams have come true we have a HOME!!

The Guild House opens November, 2012! 17 years ago then guild President Gerry Woodhouse had a box where you could put in your dreams for CHH. Gerry started off with the dream of a home for CHH. Diane Ferguson began the Building Fund by putting a $1 she won in the lottery in the dream box. It’s taken a long time but we have signed a lease and CHH has a space of its own. Our new home is at Chelsea Market (Montrose and I59), Suite 213C.

Having a guild home means we can strengthen the guild and fulfill our mission of education by teaching classes. With no real venue for classes in the Greater Houston area our future growth depends on our ability to educate new weavers! In addition to classes the Guild House will be perfect for small meetings (board and study group size), members can access the library or just hang out. For members who want to teach a class on their own, the space can be rented. We’ve still got lots of details to iron out, we haven’t done this before. The Guild House is not large enough for us to have our meetings, we tried hard but we did not find anything large enough for a reasonable price.

We will be moving our library and emptying our storage units in early November. It will take many volunteer hours to move all of our things in, organize and set up the space. If you can provide some moving muscle or help with the organizing once we are in please let me know. See more ways you can support the Guild House.

The Guild House will have regular hours beginning in the new year and the official opening party is Thursday, February 21st in lieu of our regular meeting. Mark your calendar!

November is our birthday month, Happy 63rd birthday CHH! How exciting to finally have a place to call our Guild home

Happy Weaving,
Tracy
