All Things Possible in Fiber Art

by | Aug 22, 2018

We are excited to announce the Fiber Artists of San Antonio 44th Annual Juried Fiber Art Exhibition. This year the Exhibition will take place at Say Si Gallery, 1518 S. Alamo St, S.A., TX 78204. The Exhibition will begin December 7th, 2018 and run through January 25, 2019. Whether you are an artist whose medium is fabric/fiber, or an art enthusiast who welcomes the opportunity to engage in appreciating art quilts, weaving, art to wear fashions, dolls & other fiber art sculptures, we invite you to participate in this event.

The call for artists to enter submissions will open on September 7, 2018 and the art call will close at midnight CT on October 15, 2018. Complete rules and the full prospectus is available online at www.fasaentry.org or more information about the event and our organization can also be found at www.fiberartistsofsanantonio.org. The juror for the show will be Alana J. Coates, an art history professional who has been employed as a gallerist, educator, and as an independent curator. Originally from New England she has been in Texas for nearly a decade now and is well known for curating excellent exhibitions with a slant toward fiber art and Latin American art.

Last year FASA extended the boundaries for entry to fiber artists around the country, not just limited to Texas artists. We had a wonderful response from artists entering the competition, and the show displayed a wide array of fiber art excellence. We will again be opening up the call to artists outside of Texas and are hoping to have as excellent a representation from the local community and from around the country. Whether you are a fiber artist entering the competition for the first time, a seasoned artist, an art student, or whether you plan to visit this exhibition for the first-time time, you’ll be inspired by the absolute best in the fascinating world of fiber art. Add this to your list of must DO and SEE in 2018!
