MARSHFIELD SCHOOL OF WEAVING

Marshfield, Vermont

Personalized, one-on-one instruction is the hallmark of our weaving classes. Working with our team of Instructors, students pursue their topic of choice in a creative studio environment, often independent of the focus of other students. Most classes are five days long, and may be scheduled at any time of the year that the school is in session.

The methods taught at The Marshfield School of Weaving are rooted in a time when weaving was part of a master/apprenticeship tradition. The skills and techniques that we teach our students stem from this ancient knowledge. While the skills are old, the principles may be applied to projects of traditional elegance, or contemporary chic.

Beginning weavers, and those looking for a refresher should check out our Introduction to Weaving. Intermediate & Advanced students can delve into more detailed subjects like Clothing Fabrics, Carpets & Rugs, Dowry & Household Textiles, 18th-Century Upholstery Fabrics, Weaving from Historic Draft Books. All subjects are available for study at all times – just contact us in advance and fill out a Registration Form. Also check out our Weaving Intensives.
