Joan Baxter has been a professional tapestry weaver for more than 35 years. She was born and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland and studied tapestry at Edinburgh College of Art and Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, Poland during the 1970s. Following her studies, she worked for eight years in commercial tapestry studios in England and Australia, as part of a team weaving tapestries from designs by such artists as Henry Moore, John Piper and Howard Hodgkin. She has been an independent artist weaver since 1987. She lives and works on her 7 acre nature reserve in the Highlands of Scotland surrounded by the landscapes that inspire her tapestries.

The tapestry workshop will begin at 9:45  Friday morning and 9:30 Saturday and Sunday. Workshop will last until 4:30 each day unless the group and Joan decide to extend the workday. All remaining workshop/ supply fees will be due at the workshop.  Please be prepared to bring a check or cash for any monies owed.

Visitors are not allowed in the classroom area while the workshop is going on, but the gallery and yarn store are open for shopping. If you would like to join the workshop participants and teacher for dinner on Friday evening, please let Fern know so we can make a reservation and advise you of the location and time.
