Volunteer opportunity

St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School in The Woodlands serves around 500 students from preschool through 8th grade. Each spring our school celebrates Earth Day with a special theme and an all day, in- school festival. We invite speakers to come and visit with our students and we usually have lots of fun crafts and activities planned for the students. The classes of students rotate between the speakers and crafts throughout the day. Each session is usually 20 minutes long; however occasionally speakers need more time so we adjust our schedule accordingly.

This year our theme is “Everything Comes from Something.” Our goal is to reinforce the concept that we must be good stewards of the Earth because everything that we need comes somehow from the Earth. We are looking for speakers who could introduce the concept of where fabric and textiles come from. To most of our students, it comes from the mall in the form of ready made clothing. We want to introduce our wonderful children to the concept of cotton plants and sheep and
weavers and spinners.
