2020 Handwoven Kitchen Towel Exchange
hosted by the Handweavers Guild of America, Inc. and sponsored by the Chattahoochee Handweavers Guild

At a time when we seem to hear that we should stay apart, I invite you to participate in an activity that may unite us. Individuals, Families, Students and Professional Artists who hold an active membership with the Handweavers Guild of America, Inc. (HGA) are invited to participate in HGA’s 2020 Handwoven Kitchen Towel Exchange. This age-old tradition of weaving and exchanging towels with fellow weavers is a wonderful way to learn more about color, pattern, and construction. Let’s share our love of weaving and our love of sharing. Not a member? No problem. Join Today!

The guidelines are as follows:
Towels must be woven from cotton, linen, hemp, or any combination of these fibers.
Finished size is to be 18” x 25”. Please plan ahead to address shrinkage and pull-in.
Finish with a hem either hand-sewn or machine-sewn.
Weave five (5) towels.
Include five (5) copies of the draft and treadling, thread samples, and source.
Include five (5) printed forms with your name, contact information and any additional information you would like to share with your towel recipients.
Towels, drafts, contact information and a self-addressed paid envelope must be received by the exchange administrator no later than August 31, 2020.
Towels will be exchanged and participants will receive five (5) new towels by September 30, 2020.

In your submission I hope you will include a photo and some words about yourself, thoughts about your weaving, and how you have managed during the COVID-19 pandemic and how weaving may have played a part in that. As the exchange administrator, I will take lots of pictures and document the process. I will share this with you as I return your towels. I hope to connect all of us in this process.

Sincerely,

Penny Morgan
HGA Board President
