Guest post from DeeDee:
The Contemporary Handweavers of Texas is our parent organization! We, CHH, are the founding chapter. There is a conference every two years and this year it will be in Austin Texas. (June 24 – June 28, 2015) Besides signing up for workshops and seminars, there are other opportunities.
The Members Exhibit and Fashion Show is a place to show your work. Everything entered is shown! I hope our Houston folks have been creating! Also at the conference there is a statewide exchange. This exchange is Scarf Challenge. Read about these in the Registration Booklet, (p. 23-24)
See the website for details on all for the excitement about to start at the gathering of Texas Weaver, Spinners, Dyers, Felt Makers and more…
I am looking for a volunteer to help put together a CHH guild exhibit. I have an idea so get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our guild always puts together some pretty fabulous raffle baskets. I have heard of only one study group so far who is doing this! It is a major attraction at the conference. If your study group needs ideas, some of the basket themes in the pasted have been “Beginner Weavers Basket” chocked full of all kinds of tools, books, yarn, etc. for someone just getting started. A felt makers basket would be fun – fill it with fiber, tools, soap, a book or two and some hand felted items! How about the ever popular kitchen basket, filled with handwoven towels, potholders a cookbook… You get the picture? Send the info to the conference coordinator/registrar.
