Introduction to Tapestry Weaving

This two-day Beginning Tapestry workshop introduces you to the essential skills of tapestry weaving—no prior weaving experience required. We’ll explore the foundational techniques that help you build clean, confident tapestries. These will include keeping your edges straight, bubbling in the yarn, weaving angles and curves, dealing with slits, marking your design on the warp, and generally avoiding common mistakes.

You’ll work from a small design I provide—complete with a few intentional “tricky bits”—so you can learn how to think through typical tapestry challenges and build problem-solving confidence at the loom.

All materials are included: a simple loom, warp yarn, weft yarns, a fork beater, bobbins, and everything else you’ll need. Your loom is yours to keep!

Instructor:  Jon Porch

When:  July 31 and August 1, 2026

Time: 10 am - 4 pm (with a break for lunch)
